If eyes are the window into your soul, then iTunes are the cellar door. Knowing someone’s listening habits gives you a revealing glimpse of who they really are. For instance, did you know ACD April Steinbach has listened to “How It Ends” by DeVotchKa 1,098 times? That’s right: the same song one thousand ninety-eight times. Who knows, by the time this gets posted, she may have notched a few hundred more. Just what IS it about that song? Or April? Hmmmm?

So let’s take a closer look at what’s at the top of the most-played lists at TMA. Some other curious standouts include Intern Josh Barto’s 976 listens to “Human” by The Killers (it’s good, but is it that good?) and ACD Jason Niebaum’s apparent ’80s fetish.

(Click on the person’s name and their entire list will pop up in a new window.)

Okay, I’m getting a little manic with this, but here’s the breakdown in terms of genre and decade. In this highly, er, scientific sample, Rock, Pop, and Indie are the most popular, in that order. Interestingly, classical and jazz made the most-listened-to lists, but never the top spot on anyone’s list. We can thank ACD Silver Cuellar and AD Chad Bellow for “Industrial” and “Video Games.”

And apparently we’re pretty hip and current—although I’m not sure what decade “Pink Noise” was invented, hence, “Other.”

    Also:

Holli Burlison, senior art producer, purportedly has listened to Loverboy’s “Lucky Ones” at least five hundred times. This information is unconfirmed, but I know I believe it.
