Bell Helicopter, a Textron Inc. Company, is set to launch its first TV spot in the brand’s 65-year history, and it will debut during the Armed Forces Bowl (formerly the Fort Worth Bowl) on December 23. Created by TM Advertising, the spot is aimed at all Americans, and presents Bell Helicopter as a long-time and proud supporter of our nation’s men and women in the U.S. Armed Forces. “Yellow Ribbons” breaks in game and will broadcast nationally on ESPN. Support will include print, online, out-of-home and in-stadium signage.
“We’re proud to support this year’s Armed Forces Bowl,” said Mike Cox, vice president of communications for Bell Helicopter. “It’s an honor to build the products our military use and count on to perform their missions, and we wanted to recognize them for their dedication and service to our country. We’re looking forward to a great football game and celebrating our Armed Forces.”
“Yellow Ribbons,” a 60-second produced spot (a 30-second version will also air), features a series of vignettes that journey through everyday life in America. Shot in both Texas and Washington, D.C., the spot captures yellow ribbons placed everywhere – from trees on rural roads to the National Mall in Washington, D.C., to trucks and people wearing lapels – everywhere you look, people are showing their support for the men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces. Powerful music plays through the entire spot. The commercial ends with the statement, “To all those who serve. Thank you.” Then Bell’s logo appears on the screen.
“Nothing shows more support for our Armed Forces than the yellow ribbon that is found proudly displayed all over the country,” said Andy Mahr, art director for TM. “We wanted to capture the spirit and sentiment of the country and its support for the Armed Forces, while creating an emotion evoking spot that highlights the strong relationship Bell has with the men and women in the Armed Forces through its products that support the military.”
The Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl, an ESPN Regional Television (ERT) owned-and-operated event, will be played on Saturday, December 23, and will be aired during prime time at
7 p.m. CST on ESPN, live from Amon G. Carter Stadium. It will feature a battle between The University of Tulsa and the University of Utah. Commencing in 2007, the Pac-10 Conference
will rotate with Conference USA every other year to take on members of the Mountain West Conference.
