Côtes du Coeur, (pronounced Coat du Coor), the American Heart Association’s series of events that culminates in its annual black-tie gala, has tapped TM Advertising to handle all of its advertising and promotional materials. Created pro bono, the creative in development will center around the theme of passion for heart and wine. To further support this effort, TM redesigned the Côtes du Coeur Web site, www.dallaswineauction.com, which went live today.

The signature gala will be held in Dallas on Saturday, April 10, 2010, and features more than a dozen of Dallas’ finest celebrity chefs and 28 top national and international wineries.

“We’re thrilled that TM Advertising is partnering with us again for this important fundraiser for the American Heart Association,” said Nancy Wolff, Executive Director for the American Heart Association, Dallas Division. “We’ve been blown away with the high level of creativity and passion that TM has shown since we began working with them in 2005. We cannot thank them enough for their continued support, which has helped us raise millions of dollars for the American Heart Association.”

Proceeds from Côtes du Coeur go directly to the American Heart Association for cardiovascular research and heart-health education programs. During its 18-year history, the Côtes du Coeur gala has attracted more than 15,000 attendees and has raised more than $12 million.

“Côtes du Coeur is one of the best fundraising events in the Southwest,” said Bill Oakley, Group Creative Director and Managing Director of TM Advertising. “We’re honored to be associated with this exceptional high-level event that benefits research and funding for the American Heart Association.”

This year’s gala hosts a live auction of one-of-a kind experiences and a silent auction of more than 2,000 wines during an unparalleled dinner and wine-pairing event. Attendees experience multicourse fine dining created around a specific wine varietal for each dish. For more information, visit www.dallaswineauction.com.

Kristen Knape joined as an associate planning director. Prior to TM Advertising, Knape was the lead strategic planner at Moses Anshell in Phoenix. Her other agency experience includes stints at Cramer-Krasselt and GSD&M. Another new addition, Kristin Kline, joined the agency in December as an account planner. Kline most recently was with Publicis where she worked on accounts including Denny’s, Sauza, Curves and GlaxoSmithKline. Her other agency experience includes GSD&M and nFusion. Holly Gray has also joined the planning department as an account planner. Prior to planning, Gray was the agency’s new-business manager. Genevieve Polito will take over as TM Advertising’s new-business manager. Polito was an account executive on Superpages.com before joining the new-business team. All will report to Dave Weaver, chief strategic officer, who has been leading the agency account planning and new-business team for more than 18 months.

The need in today’s challenging climate is to create heroic business ideas that move brands and businesses forward, while also changing the very culture that we live in. Given this need, our planning department is growing and we expect it to continue in 2009.”

Côtes du Coeur, one of the premier fine wine auctions in the world, has tapped TM Advertising to handle all of its advertising and promotional materials for its annual event in Dallas on March 31 at the Hyatt Regency Dallas. Created pro bono, TM has developed a new themeline for this year’s event centered on passion for heart and wine. A completely redesigned Web site was also created, and it launches this week and can be found at www.dallaswineauction.com.

TM Advertising today announced that it has hired Tricia Desjardins as art director. Prior to joining TM, Desjardins was at Saatchi & Saatchi in Los Angeles where she helped develop both traditional and interactive work for the launch of the new 2009 Toyota Matrix among other notable campaigns.

“Tricia is remarkably talented and a great addition to our team,” said Jim Walker. “Her extensive experience in both the automotive industry and nontraditional advertising will make her an invaluable asset to the agency.”

“It’s great to be in Dallas and working with such a tremendously talented and diverse team at TM Advertising,” said Desjardins. “Jim (Walker) and Tom (Hansen) have created an agency that’s truly integrated and one that support a cross-discipline approach to marketing. It made my decision to leave L.A. and move to Dallas for a new post an easy one.”

Desjardins is a graduate of Appalachian State University where she earned a B.S. degree in advertising and a minor in studio art. Following undergraduate school, Tricia attended the Creative Circus portfolio school in Atlanta.

TM Advertising, headquartered in Dallas, with offices in Austin and Seattle, is an independently managed subsidiary of Interpublic Group, one of the world’s largest marketing communications companies.

TM Advertising today announced that Max Godsil has joined their home office in Dallas as a creative director. Godsil will work on Nationwide Insurance, with his initial duties being Nationwide’s NASCAR Series sponsorship. A well-traveled freelance writer, Max’s most recent staff position was as a creative director at Saatchi and Saatchi, Los Angeles, where he spearheaded the worldwide launch of the Toyota Prius and Toyota’s entry into NASCAR.

“I’ve known Max for years, given his Seattle roots, and have long admired his work and passion for this business,” said Jim Walker, chief creative officer for TM Advertising. “We’re thrilled that he’s joined us and know that his experience and talent will have a dynamic impact on the agency.”

A graduate of the University of Washington in Seattle, Godsil’s previous agency experience includes Borders, Perrin Norrander, BBDO in Los Angeles and Vitrorobertson of San Diego.

“TM has a lot of momentum right now. You can feel it in the halls. You can see it in the work,” said Godsil. “We’re in a unique position, geographically and otherwise. Not too many agencies have the ability to solve big, global problems – but from a creative boutique creative mind-set. The potential is really unlimited.”

From across the room, Jacob El Hanani’s illustrations look like simple, solid shades of gray. But up close, you see that his pieces are filled with tiny circles, squiggles and characters from the Hebrew alphabet. The delicate patterns are reminiscent of Edward Gorey’s dreary landscapes and intricate wallpaper backgrounds.
El Hanani’s pieces were on display among hundreds of others at the CADD Art Fair 2, hosted by the Contemporary Art Dealers of Dallas. In an embarrassingly obvious parallel, I mention his pieces because they represented the Fair itself: it became more and more intriguing the closer I looked. With an extremely varied showing from galleries across Dallas, the Fair showcased how diverse the art community is in a city known more for its population of aging ex-frat boys in pink polo shirts. Whether you’re looking for a traditional oil painting or a $38,000 etching of a meringue pie (you’re not, by the way), you can find it here. You just have to look.

Some notable pieces were tiny gliders and biplanes made from real dragonflies, childish, yet charming Basquiat-esque doodles of boats and elephants, a peacock sculpture made of thousands of brightly colored woodblocks and an oversized canvas declaring, “Pecker! sizzles (you) toward a spicy lifestyle.” Well, obviously. I can’t sizzle toward a spicy lifestyle without a little help.
This was the CADD Art Fair’s second annual showing. I’ll be sure to attend the third, and I encourage you to do the same. With a good friend and glass of wine, it makes for a pretty pleasant afternoon. For pictures and links to the galleries that showed at the Fair, visit caddallas.net.
